01What to send
What helps us quote properly
A few photos and a rough idea of size are enough to start, and you do not need to measure perfectly.
- Photos of the room from inside, showing the ceiling or roof slope where the rooflight would go
- Photos of the roof from outside, if you can take them safely from the ground or a window
- Rough sizes: the opening you have now, or the space you would like to fill
- What the room is used for, such as a kitchen, a landing or a bedroom in the loft
- Any existing rooflight or skylight, and a photo of any label on its frame
What the room is used for matters more than people expect. A kitchen-diner and a landing need different amounts of light, and a different kind of glass.
02The survey
What happens at the free survey
We come to the house, look at the roof and the room, and tell you straight what will work.
- We look at the room, the roof build-up and the way the roof is made.
- We take the measurements the quote depends on.
- We talk through the rooflight or skylight options that suit the room, and which will keep it warm.
- We tell you whether Building Control notification applies, and whether planning is likely to be a question. Our planning guide explains the general rules.
The survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. It is also the moment to ask anything you like: how warm the room will be under the glass, how the lining will look, or whether a smaller unit would do the job. Bring your questions and we will answer them straight.
03The quote
What the written quote names
You get it in writing, and it says exactly what you are paying for.
On every written quote
- Product
- The make and model of rooflight or skylight
- Glazing spec
- The glass build-up, with warm-edge glazing as standard
- Kerb
- The kerb or upstand the unit sits on, and how it is insulated
- Lining
- The internal lining that finishes the opening
- Building Control
- Our position on notification, and who handles it
If you want to see what other people pay first, our costs page gives broad ranges.
04Timing
How long it takes, in general terms
We can only give a firm date once we have seen the job, but the order of events stays the same.
05No pressure
No obligation, and one team throughout
Getting a quote costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
You can take the quote away, compare it, and come back with questions. If you go ahead, the same fitting team does the whole job, protects your floors and furniture, and stands behind it with our 10-year workmanship guarantee. Fill in the form below, or send a message on WhatsApp, to start.
