Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you contact us, why we need it and how you can control it.

Who we are

This policy explains how we collect and use personal information about people who contact us through this website, by email or on WhatsApp. For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, Radiant Skylights Basildon is the data controller.

What we collect and how

The enquiry form

The enquiry form on this site is run by a third-party form provider, which acts as our processor. It passes on what you type into it: your name, email address, phone number, the address or area of the property, and a description of the rooflight or skylight you have in mind. Please do not put sensitive information in the free text box, as we do not need it.

Email and WhatsApp

If you write to us by email or message us on WhatsApp, we receive your name or number, the content of your messages, and any photographs or plans you choose to send. WhatsApp is operated by a third party with its own privacy policy, and we only see what you send to us.

Survey and job records

If you book a free survey or go ahead with work, we also keep the property address, measurements, photographs of the opening, the written quote, any agreed changes, and records of payment and the guarantee.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the providers we need in order to deliver the service: the form provider, our email and messaging services, and any supplier or fitter who needs your address and contact details to deliver or install your order. These providers act on our instructions or under their own data protection duties. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to Building Control when a notifiable installation is registered.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a survey or quote: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Quotes that are not accepted: up to 12 months.
  • Records of completed work, including the guarantee: 11 years, which covers the 10-year workmanship guarantee described on our guarantee page plus a margin for claims.
  • Accounting records: 6 years from the end of the financial year, as the law requires.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • be told how your information is used and ask for a copy of it (access);
